THIS is the book you should give people instead of Midnight Library. It is thought provoking and bittersweet, two of my favorite feelings. I think it helped the author process the grief of her father's death, and brought us along for the journey. It is successful in sharing the sense of fragility and helplessness you feel when a loved one is not who they once were, or when you know you are going to lose them. But Alice's time escapades are twofold - she is also able to explore different paths in her life without the dread or panic of not knowing if she can try again. I think that's the big difference from other time-related books. All of the wonder and tragedy without the frenzy of trying to get back to a Before.

If you liked the movie About Time, this will probably hit you emotionally the same way.

I’m torn. 3.75-4. Left me wanting a little more.

I don't usually gravitate towards books that are character-driven, but I enjoyed the characters, setting, prose, and especially the questions posed by the book's nostalgic premise that I didn't mind. I also didn't get too impatient with the pace, which is definitely slow in the first half. Maybe the pace was intentional, mimicking the way time passes slower when we're young and speeds up as we age? I hope it was a reason like that.

What stopped This Time Tomorrow from being a five-star read for me was the aforementioned pacing. The beats and revelations that happened in the second half of act two felt like they belonged in the first half of act two. The way the book sped up at the end was, I think, intentionally disjointed; but for how long the book is, I wish some of the slowness of the beginning had been sacrificed to make room for another turn near the end.

This is definitely a reflective book. It made me think about my own life and what I might do if I went back to a certain time/place. Overall, a pleasant read, though I did find there was some inconsistencies and some parts dragged. It touches on love, grief, hope and family. It was fun at the same time as being thoughtful. I did feel the ending didn't sit quite right with the overall story, at least for me.

This was a really fun read. I found myself really emotional as I thought of my parents aging. It provided a lot of reflection on living in the moment and appreciating your choices. It was really fast paced and I loved it!

It has been a very long time since I’ve cried this hard over a book.
