I've been waiting fora sequel to My Life Next Door ever since I read it. I loved the Garrett family and Tim too. Even though he was a slacker, there was just something about Tim.

Tim is a mess, he's an alcoholic but he's in AA and he's trying to be better. He may not be in school anymore but he's going to fix it. Living under his dads thumb though won't work so he's moving out, at 17. He's going to live in the garage apartment at the Garretts. Then just when he thought things couldn't get worse, enter Hazel a girl from his past. She represents a life he never thought he'd face.

Alice has the world on her shoulders. Her family is going in all directions. Her dad is still in the hospital, bills are rolling in and her brothers and sisters are going back to school. She feels like she has to help her mom do things, shes the oldest girl and her brother has moved out and started the police academy. Even with all that going on, Alice can't help but see that Tim is changing and she likes him. Maybe its the wrong time but you can't fight attraction. Will Hazel and all of what she brings mess things up for them??

I enjoyed this story. Tim was his normal self depreciating self and making a joke about everything. Alice is still young but acts like she's a 40 year old mom, Tim helps her be young. It was nice seeing Jace and Sam. All of the Garrett siblings we present and just as awesome as they were the first time around. I know that I was vague in this review but I really don't want to share too much from the book because it may ruin it for you. Lets just say this, Tim has to grow up and his dad is a dick and Nan is still off. Sam's mom is in this one again and she's still as heinous as before. If you've not read My Life Next Door, do that first.. Things will not make sense if you don't! Go and read this and let me know what you think!

You guys...if you haven't read anything by Huntley Fitzpatrick you need to remedy that immediately. She writes about family, love, issues, friendship, and a million other things that you will appreciate when you read her stories.

A full review will post closer to release but trust me when I say you need to read this book.

While My Life Next Door is a sweet and beautiful testament to first love, this is a poignant story of two troubled teenagers who somehow found solace in each other. Alice and Tim are both in crucial junctures in their lives - Alice is pressured by school and the financial woes of her household while Tim is busy trying to be independent while fighting his alcohol addiction. Tim is an admirable character, the troublemaker with a soft heart and good conscience. The story is witty, funny yet heartbreaking at some parts, making this thoroughly enjoyable to read.

In the beginning, it was hard for me to connect to the story. I wasn't really driven to continue reading and I had trouble with the writing style, which felt not that fluent. But more towards the middle, I really started loving this book. In the end, I think I might even like it a bit more than My Life Next Door. It was so nice to see all of the Garretts again and this book was a lot of fun. Although it also touched me in certain ways I didn't expect. In a way, it also felt more grown up than the companion novel. Tim is only seventeen, but he has to deal with some serious stuff thanks to this very interesting plot twist I didn't see coming. I enjoyed this book very much. I would definitely recommend it if you liked the first one!

'A beautiful mess'
Its probably the best way to describe this book, cause reading it felt as chaotic as the Garrets family or the inside of Tim's brain.

But it was so very real and beautiful and a bit sad.
