So this was another Assassin's Creed book that I read and loved. It is action packed as always with these novels and the fact that I knew the history and the myth behind it made it even better.

The middle dragged a bit for me, and Kassandra was a somewhat flat character, but this was a fun novelization of the most recent game in the AC franchise.

I feel like this is a three star book but my personal experience of having played the game first rendered it two stars for me.

This is the first novelisation of a game I’ve ever read so it’s quite interesting to experience the story in different formats. I’m normally of the belief of ‘the book was better’ but equally I’m a sucker for source material.

I personally found it quite hard to get into after having spent hours playing the game as Alexios as opposed to Kassandra. It meant some of the passages were a bit slow going for me as I had to wrap my head around the fact that the protagonist of ‘my’ story was not the protagonist of the novel.

I did really like the way the novelisation filled in the gaps but again, personally, it felt quite rushed simply because I spent a lot longer on the game and embarked on many more quests than there was room for in the book. That said, the book of my personal play of the game would have been dire (speaking of my own abilities at gaming here haha).
