Harry Potter has been with me through my childhood, and the novelty has never really worn off. Despite my growing dislike and disagreement with Rowling's views, it is so hard to separate the art and the artist. Re-reading these books has made me even more conflicted. On the whole, I love these books. The sense of wonder and magic is still there now when I read them aged 22, as much as when I was child. I still get chills at the strong women, emotional men, and fierce mothers that flow through this book and the magic of the whole universe. But I cannot ignore the lack of diversity, and appalling stereotypes of black, Asian, and Irish characters. I am not sure how to express my mixed emotions around this issue and I am sure so many HP fans feel the same.

PS: I listened the whole HP series as an audiobook and will be logging the same review for each book so that my book challenge is accurate!

Well I've finally gotten around to reading the Harry Potter books and while this first one is definitely geared towards kids and had a few moments that I felt very childish the overall book was wonderful and I'm extremely excited to be reading the rest of the series.

Rereading the series and starting with the new illustrated editions. I love the illustrations! They're so detailed and colorful. Wonderful interpretations of the characters and everything wizarding world. An absolute MUST for any Potter head's collection.

I've never actually read these books. I've seen all the movies and I feel like I know what happens, but I have never actually read all of them. The thicker the books get, the more intimidating they are to me, but it's HP so.. gotta keep going!

I was doing pretty good reading it every morning before school, but things got a little crazy during the month of April and I wasn't able to read as much as I would have liked. I give it 5 stars for sure. I especially loved the ending. Kept me on my toes!

After avoiding this series since it was published, I finally gave in and started it. I was not surprised to find it engaging and greatly enjoyable. Now on to book 2!
