This short novella tells of Janie’s bodyguard Max being sent to help Sarah who is an escapee from a mental institution because she claims to have seen vampires kill a woman at the Lab where her half-brother works. What she saw was a Kurjan.
I adore Max. A big bad bodyguard who doesn’t mind playing Go Fish and getting his nails polished by a little girl. My only complaint is that we don’t get to see much of Sarah in the ensuing books.

I loved this one! I was so bummed to realize that it was a novella. Sarah's easy acceptance of her role was a nice change of pace compared to the first two novels in this series. It created a nice break in all the drama.

I love these novellas! They tell stories of the vamps working within the realm and close to the karys family and also give them their own mating story.

This one with max and Sarah is very cute. having watched max as Janies babysitter it's hard to see him as a warrior, soldier and very dangerous. but he is.

try to get these if you can - deffo worth it!!!

Arguably the nicest vampire of the bunch, Max and Sarah had the sweetest courtship of this series so far, I hope we see more of these two in the future.

Good short. Could have been longer just because I like the characters but it didn't feel short shifted.
