i was soo excited for this book and it ended up being a lot of setup so i feel like there was a bit of anticipation that never got fully satisfied BUT i love this story and can’t wait for the next book. getting more history and background was my favorite part of this one

Enjoyable but definitely suffers from middle book syndrome; there's a lot of setup, tension building, and angst.
Silver lining: Naranpa, who came across as painfully naive for plot-driving purposes in the first instalment, is a more tolerable POV here. Hurrah.
