An intriguing read. The characters are flawed but the odd inner life of the main character that brings a Bennett sister is compelling. I gobbeled this up as a beautiful holiday read

One of those novels I call a 'red wine and chocolate' book. The first few pages are full of raw, honest emotion and I felt this book was going to be almost like a diary - not the sugar coated romance of television and cinema, but the actual reality of lovers. The characters have depth, especially Emily, a woman of literature who believes it shapes her whole life.
Throughout the book, you know that all good things will reach an end. At times, the pace slows down a bit and some parts I found to be slightly exaggerated. But this is equated as certain parts prove to be very dramatic.
I found the ending to be abrupt, and hurried. I was left confused at the end, as no real resolve was found.
All in all, not a bad 'chick-lit' novel.
