Amazing!!! Even better than the first! To be fair this one is my favorite movie and all that this book really does add that extra layer. (Though I will admit that missing the “why couldn’t it be butterflies” line is le sad) I love all the amazing things! The spiders, the basilisk, and Moaning Myrtle are by far some of my favorite aspects of the whole series! I love so many parts of the story. The introduction to Lucius Molfoy and Gilderoy Lockhart, love them both but I will admit that Lockhart does have more charm in the movies. Every detail in this book has importance and it’s just part of what makes these books so magical!

There's a lot of fleshing out the world in this book, which I like, as well as spending time just hanging out. Some things are introduced, like apparating, which I didn't expect to be introduced so early, and that dispels a bit of the feeling I was having that Rowling didn't really think things through.

I like the premise. I like the shadow that the attacks cast over the whole school throughout the year, and the growing fear. I like Harry having to deal with people thinking it's him, although I don't think it makes much sense that they start thinking that before they know he speaks parseltongue. I'm not sure why, but I didn't feel quite as invested in this book as the previous, mainly in the latter half.

In the previous book, I didn't love the part where the bad guy explains every step of the plan they enacted. Like I get it it was you the whole time. The part with the troll was you and the curse on Harry's broom that was you I GET IT. Well this book had two of those. Not a fan.

Also yet again, there are some baffling plot points. The big one is Harry and Ron deciding to take the car to Hogwarts. Like what in the fuck are you thinking? How could anyone possibly come to the conclusion that that's the best option? They could just go back to the car and wait for the Weaslys to come back. Why would they think they can't go to Hogwarts if they miss the train? It's ridiculous.

This book was so good! I literally enjoyed every moment of it! Once again the Dursely's were the worst people to Harry! I couldn't believe they put bars on Harry's window. Once again Harry saves the day by going into the chamber of secrets I couldn't believe it was Jenny who had gotten Tom Riddle's diary but once I found out who had given it to her it made me dislike the Malfoys even
more! Professor Lockhart deserved everything he got because he was a coward & a liar! My heart broke for Hagrid and I feel he never truly got justice & I cried tears of joy for Harry setting Dobby free! Overall this book brought back all the feels and then some from my teen days and I can't wait to read what happens next!

As I go down memory lane - I just get real upset thinking about how trash the movies are in comparison to the books. If they were written today / made into screen versions - an hbo series and a season for each book would be the ultimate!!! I’ll just have to live with my imagination on the parts they completely failed to include in the movies
