I’m rooting for Astrid! The story just keeps going deeper and deeper and I’m so excited to see where it’s going to end. I know the Six’s bond will help them overcome everything!

It's been a long while since I was last in this world and so I struggled getting back into the plot as I really couldn't recollect what happened last, despite tying to jog my memory by reading over my past reviews. Slowly, these things came back to me and I was able to enjoy the story as it began to unfold.

The feq conversations on ocean pollution were very emotional.

There were a few insta love moments but I actually thought they were cute and romantic, despite my eye rolling.

I felt like the POVs weren't very well balanced. I was happy that we had more perspectives as from the front cover I presumed it would just be/mainly be from Ling's perspective, so was pleasantly surprised to hear from the others, but in turn, I wish we got a bit more insight at some of the other characters too particularly Ling and Ava, but in saying that, I can't recall who had more influence over the other books.

Sometimes I felt myself pulled out of the story when characters weren't getting things as quickly as I was and those were the times where I found it felt "too young" because my more completely "developed brain" was speeding to these conclusions and I was waiting for our cast of characters to catch up. It didn't happen a load of times, but enough for me to notice it and get a little bit irritated.

Overall, I did enjoy the continuation of the story, it was action packed, the plot pacing is moving in a good direction and I loved the friendship themes in this. Hopefully I will get to the last book quicker than I got to this one!

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<

I definitely think this series suffers a bit from having Too Many Characters which makes it confusing to keep track of who is where and what they’re doing. But overall I’m still enjoying the adventure and watching the girls overcome their insecurities and bond together.

"Dark Tide" by Jennifer Donnelly is, the third novel of Waterfire Saga again follows the mermaids Sera, Becca, Ling, Astrid, and Ava while continuing their journey and facing new challenges.

I would give "Dark Tide" by Jennifer Donnelly a 5-star review because, 1; I really love the bond forming between the girls 2; again, I love the adventures 3; for each book while I loved all of them, they are each better than the previous book and 4; I loved this book and wish there were more than 4 books.

Serafina is now the leader of the Black Fin Resistance, fighting back against her traitorous uncle, and his wife. Two out of the six talismans have already been recovered so Astrid, Ling, Ava and Becca are needed to find the other four. The book focuses on the perspectives of Serafina, Ling, and Becca, and Astrid. This was my favourite book in the series, I loved seeing Astrid's perspective. But I also appreciated seeing detailed perspectives other than Serafina and Neela's and getting to know the other main 6 better. The more political elements to do with Serafina's role as a leader and her management of the Black Fins were interesting and well executed.

It ended on a cliff-hanger. Now I have to wait 3 months until book 4 comes out. Good thing I pre-ordered it at Barnes and Noble the other day.

A great book 3 for this series. I was never once bored and I was always worried about what was going to happen next with each of the mermaids. I was thinking, though, when I finished this book that it would have been nice to have separate books for each character or at least two per book like Donnelly did in book 2. I don't know if it would have added or detracted from the story line, but I'm always for leaning about the characters more.

Nothing stood out to me that was bad about this book. I think the author is finally coming into her own which I hope means that book 4 is going to be amazing! I do have to say that I wish Lucia was more of a character that I would hate, which sounds bad, but I'll try to explain. She wants Mahdi all for herself and is trying to get rid of Sera, which is pretty hate-worthy, but it feels very superficial to me (it is, but more in the surface way that characters sometimes are when they aren't the main character in the story). Right now she's more of a stubbed toe kinda character: she's annoying and I wish it didn't happen. Hopefully in the next book, with the way things are going with her, we'll see a little more depth. I know that the merls have a lot more going for them, what with Mfeme and Abbaddon and stuff, but Lucia could be a really good, really annoying character without Lucia even knowing it. It would be interesting to see her fall into the clutches of this "he" and Mfeme and Abbaddon....hmmm
