This is one classic you definitely, absolutely should read. Even if you hate Dickens, every other classic. This book is so well written and so accurate to a broken time of French history.

In many ways there feels like no heroes in this book. They get their independence and in turn many people die. Many innocent people begin to experience the horrors. We get a very historically accurate depiction in the midst of a love story interlocked.

And it is in which the drunken, wasted antihero in which we sneer at became a heck of a person and sentenced himself to death, pretending as someone else, so that the love may live on. For someone, anyone to empathetically give their life in such a way...You dare wonder why. Perhaps we're too eager to cast aside anyone of human flaw as perfectly evil without seeing the grey nuances within them.

And this is all exactly why everyone should read this book at least once.

Very hard to read. Everything is confusing and like a puzzle you have to put together with missing pieces. There are a lot of names that are all very similar and characters that are hard to tell apart. The only interesting thing that happens is in the last 100 pages. I would recommend looking up the spark notes summary and watching it rather than reading the book — it is way harder to read it.
