Lovely book. Interesting mystery that kept the pages turning with heartwarming characters and a beautiful setting. Delightful full circle ending that made a good book great

Amazing!

So many twists and turns! I would definitely read this story over and over! I look forward to reading more of her books!

Dnf at 30%. The descriptions of literally everything were way too long for me to stay interested in the story.

Honestly, Kate Morton can do no wrong. The ending was a bit too convenient, and The Distant Hours is still my favorite book of hers, but the woman has a gift. This book is great.

I liked the book and was interested in the plot. At first I found it a little difficult to follow with the shifts between times and places, but when things started coming together I was more interested in the story. However, I was extremely disappointed by how contrived the ending was. Even in the book it talks about how there can only be one big coincidence per mystery novel, but by the end of this book, there were at least a dozen. I felt like the last 50 or so pages were a cheap letdown by an author who wanted things to work out a certain way but didn't have the time to make it happen properly.

I really wish I could have listened to this on audiobook, but there wasn’t one available on the Library app, so I took a long time to read it in my down time. It’s a very good story, I loved all the connections, twists and mystery.
I had a theory that made perfect sense and I congratulated myself for figuring it all out, and then I was wrong! Haha, she set the reader up, just like Alice explained in the formula for a mystery. The detective or character putting together the mystery must be just a bit slower than the reader, like Watson in the Sherlock Holmes novels.
It was really good. I feel like a final Chapter with a little more explanation and follow up were warranted. For such a long book, it ended too abruptly.

Read it!! It's slow because there are so many intricate pieces being woven together for an amazing and unpredictable ending!
