I received a copy of This is a Story by John Schu and illustrations by Lauren Castillo from Candlewick Press in exchange for an honest review.
For all those who love books, reading, libraries, and stories, This is a Story is a love letter and invitation for everyone. It's a simple text of the ways in which reading provides readers a world of their own but also as a way to connect to others. I loved seeing some of the books featured within the book as the young people are reading. This will such a great story to welcome readers back to the library and other reading spaces.

I love Mr. Schu. Mr. Schu Reads is one of my favorite sites! So this book about the magic of books and how they connect all of us. YES
Also the illustrations of other people's book covers?! Also yes!

It's fine but didn't leave a big impression. I like the luminosity of the artwork but wish they had added someone in a wheelchair and/or someone in a hijab. The inclusivity felt surprisingly limited basically.
