Summary: One of the things I really enjoy about John Sandford's writing is the callbacks to prior books in the series. Not only does he keep it moving forward with good character development, he re-introduces peripheral characters. When Randy make his return in this book, Sandford makes sure to tell you about Randy's shenanigans while he was away.

A return to form after the rather average [b:Easy Prey|6838|Easy Prey (Lucas Davenport, #11)|John Sandford|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348124039l/6838._SY75_.jpg|1515166] mostly due to the extremely loathsome serial killer James Qatar. I was struggling to figure out what it was that I like so much about this series but I think it's the fact that it never slows down... every book, from the opening scene all the way to the ending, the story is constantly moving forward.

I always like these. They're really good stories with really good characters but add in Richard Ferrone's narration and it's golden. I'm glad I still have a dozen to go.
