For me, one of the most important things about a story is whether or not the characters feel real, and if they do, whether or not I care about them. Jessie and Scar and Dri and SN all feel very real to me, and I was totally invested in their lives and their happiness. Not every book needs to be a treatise on big themes, sometimes a story is a story is a story, and this was a story that made my heart happy when I was reading it.

3.5 stars. This is a really cute ya story but I felt it dragged a bit in the middle and Jessie got on my nerves a few times. It was frustrating because I knew who SN was as soon as he was introduced yet it took her another 300 or so pages, she was so oblivious. Between the three guys, there was really only one I found likable enough to even want to be SN.

I thought she was a pretty real teenager; immature and dramatic - a little too much at some times though. I grew tired of all the other girls being so stereotypical.

The very beginning had me smiling and ready for a super cute read, the middle lost me, but the end had be smiling again. If you want a cute YA and can look past the stereotypes and obliviousness of Jessie then I'd recommend this.

Sweet story. Great characters and the realistic challenges they face. Great YA book!

This book was amazing. It was all the teenagers angst and yet adult issues at its finest. It was written like a dream, and a truly astounding work. It capitalizes on the idea that sometimes we are more comfortable talking to a stranger than our closest friends. This story paid off, and I really wish there was a part 2.

This was a very cute book, it was at once adorable and sweet, yet never did I feel it was cloyingly so. There were a few moments when the main character’s perception of herself did not at all match up with the interests of those around her, but it wasn’t too difficult to suspend belief. There was also some very real pain and sadness from the loss of her mother, and it felt very...real and authentic. It was an enjoyable book!
