Not sure why this took me so long to read, but from the review of another friend who read it, it seems like the audiobook would have really brought it to life more! Definitely appreciated it more toward the end, and that ending!! Camilla is a saint, y’all.

this book was interesting! i thought the format was cool, yet it took some getting used to. this book didn’t blow me away like some of my other 4 star reads but i can’t see giving it less than 4. the dichotomy of wild daisy and vigilant billy made the tension between them undeniable, they simply didn’t agree in each others lifestyles. while i did enjoy this book, i wish there was more! i wanted to see more of the aftermath after the band broke up and how that influenced the paths they took, if it did.
Spoiler having julia as the author almost made her unreliable. why would billy tell his daughter about all of the things he did that would shine him in a negative light? why would daisy rat on julia’s mom and dad? who lied solely because julia was the one writing this? it added an interesting twist that i appreciated at the end but i wish the book had ended differently, it felt like an anticlimactic ending.

I listened to the audiobook which I would highly recommend for this. This book was read right after The 7 Husbands of Evelynn Hugo and at least for me this gave me a lot of what I needed from that book. More perspective different viewpoints. There are no huge plot twists and there's not an ending that will leave you feeling like you know anything for sure but can allow you to create an ending beyond the end for yourself.
You'll find yourself pulling out the 70s rock and imagining what it was like to be witnessing the rise of some of the biggest rock bands in the era. The world that Taylor Jenkins Reid created in this book was rich and vibrant and easy to be brought into. She explores some of the complex issues humans face in life in a much more indepth way than she did in Evelyn Hugo and I think it was really needed

I appreciate the writing style. It felt absolutely real, like it's a biography and the band existed in the 70s. I also appreciate the mood. It's not a cheesy book, but it's still easy to read.
I somehow missed strong emotions, due to the lack of inner monologue. Didn't feel the story, you know?
