The format of this book really drew me in. I’ve never read a narrative like it. I liked the book and it was a quick read (only took me two days to finish) but it lacked the character development and nuance it could have had if it were a more conventional novel. None of the characters were particularly likable but I do appreciate that there was some growth to them by the end. Ultimately I just hoped it would have been better based on others’ reviews but I think it just wasn’t 100% the book for me.

This book is so weird in the way that it is so bad that it sucks you in. At the 200 page mark of this book I was so close to giving up, I disliked all of the characters and just wanted to be done with the book yet I found myself desperate to know what was going to happen, I found myself gasping and plot twists and i found myself connecting with these characters despite the fact I disliked them.
I enjoyed this book in a strange half and half sort of way

I wanted to love this book as much as I loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. It was good! It was well written, well thought out, and executed in a way that was like pieces of a puzzle falling into place. I love those elements.

I think it lacked some sparkle. I didn't connect with any of the characters the way I hoped I would. That may just be me. But regardless, this is an excellent read. Its narrative is dark and tumultuous, and I loved that as well. This story told any other way may not have had the same impact. The changes in the way characters remembered certain events and the twist near the end were impeccably detailed. I would strongly recommend this book.
