I love Farli as a character, but I feel sad for her choice in a mate. I feel like he was too cowardly and selfish for my tastes. This one has a little more angst  than previous books. I cared more about the overall plot for the tribe and its future than the couple's relationship.

I am really glad that this had more world-building and new characters introduced. It was nice to learn about the history of the sa-khui more.

I will say the twist with Bek at the end was quite surprising and disturbing. I already didn't like him as a character, but I feel like if things head where they seem to be going, I truly don't know how he can be redeemed.

Gosh, I love Farli! I am glad we got a book with her as the main lead, cause we have only gotten snippets of her in the past, granted that she was younger then. She is so funny and her bluntness makes her that much more charming. Her personality complements Mardock's and elicits a purpose in his life. I think they may be my favorite pair so far >.<

Since I listened to the audiobook, I don't know how exactly it is spelled, but the curse words Mardock uses seems to be a revolutionized one, /keffing/ is what it sounds like.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Farli and Mardok, even though Mardok at times frustrated me with his insistence that Farli leave with him, leaving her family and friends behind. But the ending all but makes up for that.

I understand his reasonings for not wanting to stay on the Ice Planet at first, due to his past in the military, but I also felt he was asking too much from Farli who has a family, friends, and a pet that she would've been leaving behind with the huge possiblity that she would never see them again if she chose to leave with him. I felt he was putting undue pressure and guilt on her to choose to leave with him the entire time when he wasn't even thinking about the possibility of staying on the planet with her and the tribe until close to the end. I'm just glad that they eventually came to the best choice for them and that he came to understand she also has plenty of reasons to want to stay instead of leaving.

The ending also has a hint of what's to come in the next book/books. And I'm not sure if I'll end up enjoying the next book or not.

Bek's choice in the end is not necessarily the best choice and I feel he's got some major consequences coming for him in the next book. But I'm also excited to read it to see how I end up liking it. I've had mixed feelings on Bek the entire series, leaning mostly towards disliking him as a character. So I'm anticipating not enjoying the next book as much as the previous ones. But I'm excited to see if I'm right or if I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Another plot twist! Mardock and Farley make such a sweet couple and I enjoyed that significant less amount of babies/pregnancy in this book. I’m very intrigued to see where the story keeps going.
