I wish Goodreads had half stars because while this book doesn't deserve 4 stars, it definitely doesn't deserve 3! A definite 3.5
There was a lot about this book that I liked, but I just couldn't love it no matter how much I wanted too, although I have nothing but good things to say about it.
First thing, I really enjoyed both main characters. Raze was particularly lovely to read about.
Secondly, the story line was refreshing. I loved how even though it was set in an incredibly short time frame, it didn't feel forced or cheesy and that it didn't have some dramatic *all is happy* ending which wouldn't of fitted such a short novella.
Thirdly, I love a short book which is probably the reason I liked this as much as I did. Any longer I think I'd of gotten a little annoyed at Adrian, which leads me to worry about the first book in the actual trilogy that focuses on Adrian, with a storyline I normally avoid. Although I will definitely read it as I enjoyed Sylvia Days' writing style and I like the plot which included nearly ever PNR character you can think of!

Fun and witty. I love the way Sylvia Day writes. I went into this book with the intent on a fast cute read. And now I'm off to look up all the books in this series cuz I need to know what Raze is up to next. And can anyone tell me where I can find my own Raze?

Just another short story I downloaded for free on my Kindle from Amazon. I don't want to be mean, but - it's not a wonder it's free. It's not that good. Storytelling is very confusing, I know that author is very excited about a new world that she invented and that this should be a prequel, but a lot of characters are thrown in and connections are not very clear. It did not raise enough interest in me, to read first part of the series.

This is a lot like J.R. Ward's BDBH, but Slyvia Day is a much better writer. I was surprised that I liked this as much as I did. After being consumed by the BDBH, it was bit like the reading version of potato chips--I couldn't eat just one, I didn't expect to like this. Strangely though it felt like an echo of that other author's series, I liked this more. I'm not sure why this worked for me, but it did. There was very little world building which was confusing, but this came out after the first full length novel was released so I assume Day thinks that you should already have some background if you are reading this. I got this because it was free, so I haven't read the other. It was mostly just a world already built with me the reader struggling to understand what the heck was going on. I will have to go back and read the first one that was published. The whole premise was a little silly, as most paranormal romances are, but I liked the characters. I wanted to get their full length book in the series book to read the rest of their story, though it appears that it isn't yet published. I may take up this series in earnest from this little tidbit.
