Wonderful couple Grayson Hawthorn and Kira Dallaire. Especially Kira is awesome.
Side characters are unforgettable.
I liked the feel of it. Close to reality.

Today may be a very bad day, but tomorrow may be the best day of your life. You just have to hang on until you get there. - Grammy

Watch what people do when they think no one's watching, love. That's how you'll know who they really are. - Grammy

I'd gone over the "what ifs" of my life more times than I could count. It was a painful, useless waste of time. - Grayson

"So you say. I've found that people say what suits them in the moment. Doesn't always mean it can be counted on." - Grayson

"Your grandmother believed that if age and maturity didn't make a person more aware of the needs of others, or at least one other, marriage certainly would." - Lawyer

"My mother used to say that marriage is much like wine. They both mature slowly and grow deeper and more complex with time." - Walter

"Forget the prince and princess. I always imagined the real story was between the witch and the dragon." - Charlotte

After all, what was life without a few exciting adventures? - Kira

"There's nothing on earth like the feel of someone who loves you grasping your hand in the dark when you're lost and afraid." - Shane

"We should all be children when it comes to love- open and vulnerable." - Charlotte

"And bear this in mind; love is not always smooth and easy. Love can be piercing. Love means exposing yourself- all of yourself, every tender part- to being hurt. Because true love is not only the flower, true love is also the thorns." - Charlotte
"Right, Sharp and painful." - Kira

"There is always pain in this life. Not just for me, not just for you- for everyone. You can't avoid it. And sometimes the pain is so great, it feels as if it carves out the very essence of who you are. But it doesn't, not if you don't allow it to. It carves out a place in you, yes, but love is meant to fill that space. If you let it, pain makes more space for love within you. And the love we carry inside makes us strong when nothing else can." - Kira

How much pain could a person handle before they broke? - Kira

I wanted to break her like she had broken me. - Grayson

"I think you'll find, that where there is real love, there is always real hope." - Walter

"And sometimes we'll meet halfway, but other times, I'll come to you. And I'll try my very best to put my pride aside so I know when I need to be the one to do that." - Grayson
"Me too." - Kira

In Vino Veritas. In wine there is truth.
But the greater knowledge that now lived in the peaceful silence in my heart was: in love there is truth. - Grayson

I listened and read this book. At first i needed a minute to get used to the characters, as they both seemed a little spoiled. But as the story continued on, they grew in depth and I really enjoyed the story. Some parts of it I felt the heroine was a little too understanding and kind, but overall it was a great book. Seemingly different from a typical MS book

Oh my goodness. I loved this book. Okay so at the beginning of this story Kira (the lead female) proposes a marriage to Grayson (lead male). Just that alone is one of my favorite type of books to read. I love the whole idea of starting out a relationship based on an agreement rather than normal. It is just amusing to me watching two people coexist when they don't necessarily want to. But I mean of course they had the initial attraction to each other that helped to fuel their inevitable real relationship. So yeah anyways then there was Grayson. I really loved him. He was all broody and adorable lol. Kira balanced him out perfectly. She was the sunshine and hope that he desperately needed in his life. I seriously loved the part when they are racing down the banister. They were both so carefree and it was like the first real step towards their real relationship. They had issues and Grayson was unbelievably cruel when he thought that Kira had wronged him but I still loved him. Kira was awesome. She was so brave and full of wonder for life. The cottage part reminded me of KA's Fantastical (I think it's that one) where Finnie cleans up the cottage that Frey leaves her at :). Anywhooo this was a really great book that caused me to smile often because of the banter and chemistry between the two main characters. Highly recommended!

A different kind of take on marriage-of-convenience, mixed with some fairytale-like intrigue.

Title: Grayson's Vow
Author: Mia Sheridan
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Main Characters:

Kira Dallaire is the daughter of a wealthy politician, but her recent fiasco of trying to live her life like Daddy wants her to has left her with nothing but heartache
Spoiler she finds her fiance high and covered in hookers, so her daddy dearest leaks the story to the media that Kira was drug addict
. She was never good enough for her father, her mother died when she was young, and her former fiance treated her like as much of a prop as her father did - especially when it came down to saving their own reputations.

Grayson Hawthorne has spent his whole life trying to gain love and approval from parents who hated him.
Spoiler The hawthorne patriarch cheated on his wife with a ballet dancer. The dancer blamed Grayson for her ruined career, the stepmom blamed him for her husband’s indiscretions, and Ford was just a plain asshole who hated himself so he mentally tortured his sons.
The negligence and outright emotional abuse from both his biological parents and stepmother have colored every decision he has ever made, and played a hand in the most traumatic event in his life
Spoiler After his biological mother rejects him as an adult, he gets drunk and accidentally kills someone, serves 5 years for manslaughter
.

Plot/Conflict:

Kira’s grandmother has passed away, and her father has disowned her unless she capitulates to letting him run her life. With nowhere to go, and people counting on her, she concocts a scheme to get her trust fund early… she has to get married. Short of pulling someone off the streets, or putting an ad in the paper, she’ll just have to see who falls into her path.

Grayson Hawthorne passes Kira’s path while at the bank, getting unequivocally denied a loan that would keep his family’s winery open and running. Nothing is as important to Grayson as that winery, his last promise to his father was to keep it running. Kira knows enough about Grayson to know that he is just as desperate as she is, but not enough to understand how he could appear so lost and deep one minute, but be cold and brusque with her.

Kira and Grayson’s misconceptions of each other are piling up quickly as they go about the process of setting up a fake marriage for money. It has to look real in order to keep Kira’s father from contesting the trust. And of course, despite their best intentions, they start seeing the real people beneath their protective barriers, and it only adds fuel to their physical attraction. But they both have some secrets tucked away in their respective families’ that could haunt any happiness they might be able to build.

Loves:

The emotional roller coaster ride here was heartbreakingly delicious. There was so much hurt in both Kira and Grayson’s past, and it seemed like when one would begin to trust, something would happen and they would slip back.

Likes:

I liked the way the author handled Grayson’s emotions. He gradually softened to Kira, but there was no instantaneous moment of love or realization that his feelings had come on suddenly.

Peeves:

I occasionally rolled my eyes at the drama, and the repetitive use of the witch/dragon nicknames and story analogy.

Favorite Quote:
What was sexier on a man than great abs and a heart full of hidden torment? They should bottle it and sell it by the truckloads. Or perhaps write a book:
Abs and Hidden Torment: A Man’s Guide to Bagging Babes”
