This one was fun, but mostly felt like setup for the next one. That epilogue, though!!! Immediately starting the final book!

I am a little sick of alberich and like big overarching plots. I miss the vibe of the first few books that were more "adventure of the week"karty_v's review against another edition

Albrecht is back... Which I liked, but you see the "twist" come from miles aways and Irene is just dumb AF 😂

“It goes a bit like this,” Irene said, as they walked towards the stairs. “The first step is, I’ll kill myself before I let him do that to me again. The second step is to say, Wait, it’d be much more practical to kill him rather than kill myself. And there you have it. A sensible plan based on logical choices.”
All of the Invisible Library books are thoroughly enjoyable and this is no exception. It's fast-paced, with plenty of danger and clever escapades to keep you entertained. While it certainly wasn't the most complex as far as world-building or character development, it was a joy to be on adventures with Irene, Kai, and Vale once more (with the addition of Catherine, the new Fae assistant and Kai's older brother, Shen Yuan).
This book is clearly setting up the final book, but I found that I didn't mind at all. (Actually, I read the 8th book before this one, as I couldn't get my hands on this one soon enough). It's hard for me to say if I saw the reveal coming as I'd already spoiled it for myself. (Bad Anna!)
Overall, though, I adore this series. It's a quick, fun read and never takes itself too seriously.

The Dark Archive is getting hit in the face with a pie full of other pies.
