This was the first book written by Maya Hughes that I read and I don't regret my decision to give this author a try.
I really love sports romances and the blurb of this one seemed to be very unique and different.
Persephone Alexander (Seph) was a math genius but a loner. She was pretty much homeschooled by a controlling father and didn't have any friends. Fed up of her same boring lifestyle, she decided to step out of her comfort zone and live a little. She made a list of things she wanted to experience before leaving college and that included losing her v-card.

"I was tired of being me, and the only way to change that was to stop being afraid of what I wanted."

So, Seph had made a list of some bizzare questions that she was going to ask her "potential candidates". And a small misunderstanding lands Reece Michaels the hot hunk of a football player at Steph's table.

"I’d give her the other firsts, as many as I could, because if I gave her too much, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from never wanting to stop."

At first, Reece seemed to arrogant and overconfident but then he grew on me. His friends were really the best you could ask for. The way they took Seph under their wing and subtly made her feel like she belonged with them was adorable. I really loved those guys!

"How you could want something so much with another person? How they could hold you close and help you discover a whole different side of yourself?"

Reece thought that Seph making that list was a really bad idea at first but then he couldn't help but help Steph complete all the things that she wished she could do before leaving. From that point onwards, I started to love Reece's character.

"I’d do whatever I needed to in order to prove to Seph that she didn’t need to prove herself to anyone."

Throughout the story, I felt really bad for Seph and when she was lonely, I felt her emptiness, that really made me cry and helped me relate to her. But, it was really nice to see her coming out of her shell and enjoy her life without constantly be corrected by her father. When she made friends with all the guys, it really made me feel like a proud mother hen lol ;-p
Overall, the story was great. Reece was just the right guy that fate decided to tangle up in Steph's life . All the side characters were really likeable except a few. I will definitely continue to read all the other books in the series!

I just remember Kendall Jenner talking about experience things because everybody should experience things and you need to experience things.

Anyway, this book is like tons of daddy issues but not a drop of praise kink. This feels like a attack to all the insecure emotionally repressed people seeking external validation.

It's me, I'm the insecure emotionally repressed one.

I absolutely love this book, it's so damn good. And it's pretty perfect for me that I'm obsessed with sports romances.
This book is nothing new nor does it have a complicated plot with plot twists, it is a very tender college romance that warms your chest and makes you feel like the most single person in the world. It's great to pass the time, the characters are good, you empathize with them from the beginning (in my case) and the story is entertaining.

So Seph is a kind of math genius who grew up totally oppressed and controlled by her father (a despicable human being) who handles every important decision in her life which made her a very lonely person with no experience in the social part of life. Her only moment of freedom is when she manages to escape to college, which won't last long, so she decides to do everything she ever wanted before her moment of freedom ends and one of those things is to lose her virginity and decides to put an ad on the internet (I know, the girl is intrepid and a little crazy because that was DANGEROUS) and that's how she meets Reece. Reece is a college athlete who wants nothing more than to be professional and can't let anything get in his way but ends up helping Seph experience all his first times but not the most important first time.

He doesn't respond to her ad, he mistakes her for someone else and they end up finding out about her plan, which he thinks is very dangerous by the way, but he can't refuse to help her because she doesn't get out of his head. Reece takes her to experience everything she has on her list, he takes her to dance, to swim naked, with him she meets the people who are going to be her first friends and has her first birthday party (I swear this broke my heart). He helped her see what kind of life she wanted and that it was not the life that her father planned for her, I think that experiencing everything she experienced gave her the courage to do it.

They can't help falling in love with each other and he's so damn beautiful and cuddly, the chemistry is there from the start and it's only increasing.
I love the communication level of these two, romances are usually full of communication problems that bring a lot of unnecessary drama but not here. They fit together perfectly and their relationship felt so good that it kept me with a smile on my face at how cute they were.

Love the whole group of friends and family, obviously not the bastard Seph had as a father.

P.S. I'm so happy that Dan dumped that bitch, he didn't even show up much but it was obvious that he deserved better.

It was a good read, Not otherworldly in any means but overall I enjoyed it. The main problem i had was that i had a hart time feeling Steph and Reeses connection. It was all just so quick and I did not understand why he was so protective of her from the get go. I didn’t know his character that well at that point and in my mind it did not make sense. However, i did read it over two weeks, so maybe I lost all the connection because of that. The end was cute but a little rushed, exactly like the third act problem. It came kinda out of the blue.
However I enjoyed Seph getting more and more rebellious and standing up for herself, especially to her dad and her garbage roommate. Also i liked That she did not change her appearance or her hair, as it was true to her.

This was my first book by this author, and definitely not the last. She totally got me hooked from the first to the last page!

Persephone (Seph as her friends call her) is a math genius, socially awkward person. She didn’t interact much with people, as her father raised her with an iron fist, und dictated how she has to live her life.

Reece, football player, star of the school and the girls, kind of stumbled upon Seph by accident.

This is an absolutely great story. I loved the writing, the flow of words. The feelings in this book felt like my own. I laughed, I loved, I hurt with this book.

I can’t wait for the next books, as you can tell reading this one, there’s a lot more to come!

I recommend this book a LOT!!!!!

I kindly received an arc for an honest review!
