Epistles are really not my favourite, and as much as I wanted to love Pliny’s work, it’s wasn’t easy to get into. I really enjoyed the passages on the eruption of Vesuvius and the exchanges with Trajan, especially because in that case we had some back and forward. Still tho, I’m happy I’ve read this book and grateful these letters have made it to the present day, as they surely represent a unique  slice of life of the late first and early second century bc.
