This was as good as I remembered (unlike the prequel). Lots of twists and turns, plenty of real life examples that are plausible, which I always enjoy in fiction based in history.

This was one of those books that friends kept advising me to read, and asking me if I'd read, until I finally had to read it so I could answer them with some other answer than "no," followed by "ohyoushould," followed by "why?," followed by "oh, uh, urg, you'll like it I think...."
Well, I only liked it a little, and I was (and occasionally still am) bothered by people who don't realize what to me is the most relevant fact to keep in mind about this book: it is FICTION. Although real places and names are used, that doesn't make the book nonfiction. The book's value should be judged in regards to how entertaining it is, or inspiring (if it was, which I don't believe it was). It shouldn't be judged on how well it tells anyone what "really happened" about the past history of the Church or Jesus or anything else. It's FICTION. And as fiction, it was merely decent compared to a lot of other fiction I've read - hence my "it was ok" rating here.
