This is a complex tale with a lot of characters, both human and otherwise. Mallory is the main character but the story is also told from others’ point of view. We get backstory, intentions, and a different way of seeing what’s going on.
Mallory, her friend Xan, and his semi-psychotic friend Calliope are all very likable, but we’re also introduced to likable members of the Gneiss race, all rocky characters who communicate with vibrations and who are capable of movement - slow movement but movement nonetheless. I’m looking forward to the next in the trilogy and hope to encounter more of the same people.
