I wasn't expecting much from this book when I picked it up, it was next in my pile of books to read so I started it. A couple chapters in I was pretty into the story, by the middle I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed that things kept happening that I wasn't predicting would happen, def going to read the sequels.

Once you pick up this book to read, you won't want to put it down until you have finished it all.

Vulgar, crude, and bloody brilliant!

I won't say anything more or it could get a little backy.

This book has so many good points, but it stands to be noted that writing high fantasy DOES NOT mean authors get a free pass for racism. Halflings in this universe are all Black and follow their ancestor’s former “master” as a god. The author’s choice of language is sometimes questionable in unnecessary ways. It doesn’t seem like there was a lot of attention paid to how things in the book reflected things in the real world.

In full disclosure, I’ve only read the first half of the book. The story is fairly good, but hard to enjoy when pissed off about the world-building.

Congratulations to Jonathan French for writing not only the worst book I've ever read, but also inflicting the worst sex scene I've ever encountered.

Well, fair and honest to say this is the best book I have read this year, in fact the best I have read this decade
