Levin's first novel is a perfectly plotted thriller with a great ending. I really enjoyed it! Not as good as Rosemary's Baby, but what is?

I read a condensed version from the Reader's Digest. For this reason, my review must be taken with a grain of salt.

*Spoilers kind of?*

I absolutely loved that this book included themes surrounding abortion way back when it was written almost 50 years ago. It's relevant to our times, and can be seen as a cautionary tale for why abortion should be kept legal and medically accessible. If Dorothy could've gotten an abortion like she tried at first, then this whole mess could've been avoided.

I did really enjoy the first part of the novel that focused on Dorothy. The rest of the novel was okay. I am excited to watch the two versions of the movie though!

Really enjoyed this 50s murder mystery thriller. I'd read The Stepford Wives and watched Rosemary Baby and this was next on my list and didn't disappoint. Quite a plot was weaved around and I kinda predicted the ending by the last couple of chapters but it didn't spoil the enjoyment.

The wonderful art of manipulation and deception, wrapped up in (at least) two masterclasses. #1; how to take a reader by surprise (I did not see that coming) and #2; how to make a finale cinematic (I saw the whole thing happening in front of me). Ira Levin; my man.

The writing style was good but this book was not written for me. If you enjoy following the story a male sociopath then ur in the right place. None of the characters were like able for me, I can tell this was written by a man
