Really mixed about this since I couldn't really like the hero for 70% of the story.

He just seemed so unlikable and pushy that it came of as r word.

He did change once his big secret was out at which point the story pick up again and really had a big finale.

A complicated book but still a worthy read in my opinion.

Edit: from 4 stars to 2 stars. The more I thought about it, this book is f*cked up. I hate the hero, his redemption is not worth it. Yes, most of the steamy scenes were good but not worth reading this book. What the heck was I thinking?

4,5 stars. This was almost perfect except for like one scene. Also not five stars because I didn’t get that feeling I get when I read something like ‘Chasing Cassandra’ or ‘Love in the Afternoon’.

Still this was amazing and the characters felt like real people. I did think it was nice that neither of them said they loved each other until they were done with their internal problems (respectively). I also loved how Nick worked hard to un-teach Lottie all the awful things she was made to believe. And of course how could I forget Lottie and how understanding she was and helpful too in Nick getting over his trauma.

If I thought Lady Sophia’s lover was the hottest Kleypas book quantitative wise, I think this book just beat it.

Perfect ending for this book, in regards to Lottie and that gross old man.

Oh and just a note for myself but this book reminded me of the first Brutal Birthright book by Sophie Lark

Lisa did it again with a cheeky naming convention. Nick and Lottie are great together, even if Nick is a Sad Boy with Issues, and Lottie needed to grow a backbone sooner than she did. Nick is in the running for my favorite LK hero.
