_Chicka Chicka Boom Boom_ has won the Boston Globe and Horn Book Picture Book Honor. I think this book is a very good teaching tool for preschool teachers because it is very simplistic and repetitive. It does a good job at introducing the alphabet, and I feel as though it could be used as supplemental material with children learning the alphabet. It also rhymes in most places which may help children to remember what is being read to them.
The illustrations of the book are very simple yet somewhat abstract. The letters obviously take center stage as they are traveling up the coconut tree. The coconut tree is in the center of the gutter until too many letters climb up the tree, causing it to bend over until all the letters fall out. I think the illustrations are important to the book because they show the children reading the book what each letter looks like. This book has a very practical use in the classroom to teach the children the alphabet. I would say that the fact that this book is all about the alphabet makes it very fit for the younger preschool age group. The pages also have borders on each one that is brightly colored and polka dotted. The artistic style noted in this book would be expressionism because what is going on in the book can be directly seen in the illustrations. The medium used appears to be digital because the lines and letters are so precise. The cover of the book is very vibrant and abstract. I think this helps capture the reader's attention. I would use this book with children to help with teaching them the alphabet and engaging them.

I don't know what it is about this book but my 2 year old absolutely loves it and requests it over and over again.

A concept picture book, this is based on an alphabet rhyme that relates what happens when the whole alphabet tries to climb a coconut tree. Fun to read aloud and would make a great storytime book.

Super cute take on the alphabet, and the rhythmic chant is catchy and fun. I love how adults and children are represented respectively by uppercase and lowercase letters!
