What a joy this book was to read! A cozy murder mystery set in an apparent peaceful town, along with some wonderful (and not so wonderful) characters.
Beautifully written, this is the first in the series, and I look forward to continuing it

This book felt really preachy. It was trying far too hard to make the women sympathetic and most of the men villains. The plot is a bit paper thin.

It is well written, but it feels like the author just wanted to write about food and books before remembering that there had to be some sort of story. It wasn't a bad way to waste an afternoon, but I wouldn't reach for it again.

There were so many characters that it was hard to follow at times, but it was fun seeing them team up to solve the mystery. I love the concept of going to a bakery and getting the exact pastry for whatever ailed me and go to a bookstore and get a book to heal my soul. Cozy mystery worlds really need to exist.
