Lady Midnight was such a fantastic book! I loved the plot and the characters so much. It was so easy for me to like and sympathize with these characters and it was just such an easy book to get sucked into. Emma and Julian totally messed with my emotions and the betrayals did as well. I really enjoyed seeing some of the TMI/TID characters again (especially in that little epilogue about the Sizzy engagement party)!

"The Law is hard, but it is the Law."
Why has it taken me so long to finally read Lady Midnight? Cassandra Clare will forever be one of my favourite writers, and with each new release her writing just gets better and better. Lady Midnight was phenomenal! Honestly, it's baffling how Clare conjured up a whole, intricate story from just a single Poe poem - and it's even better that it's based on Annabel Lee because I love that poem. I wish I could write like her someday!
The shadowhunter world is something that's very dear to me - I spent my final year in high school and the start of my college life completely absorbed into this world - and when reading this, I got a real sense of nostalgia. The whole world - with its rules, laws, weapons, idioms, etc. - feels so homely to me, and I'm so happy Julian and Emma fit into that. This series looks very promising; I'm excited to see where Emma and Julian's relationship will go in terms of their love/parabatai; and I'm also really excited to see what trouble the Blackthorns & co. will get into in Lord of Shadows. There is a whole bunch of characters - a real mix of diversity - which I really appreciate (it definitely lacks in YA) - and, there's not a single character that I don't like so !!!! important. I'm really enjoying the new setting Clare has introduced - we've had London and New York, so I'm really loving seeing the shadowhunting world in L.A. brought to life.
I hope to see more of the older characters in it - I know, it's a new series, which follows new characters, but I need my dose of Jace, Clary, Simon, Tessa and Jem. In the next book I hope to see more about Helen, and there quest to getting her back from being exiled.
P.S. Mark Blackthorn must be protected at all costs. And shipping Julian and Emma has been the worst mistake of 2017 so far!!!
UPDATE: I've just read the bonus chapter. All I want to say is that I love Clary and Jace, and I love Simon and Isabelle, and I'm so happy they are all happy, honestly, they deserve it so much. I think I'm going to cry... gtg

Honestly, the plot and the story were pretty ok. Hell, even the characters were decent (not great, decent), but this book was just sooooo boring. It has never taken me this long to read a book in my life. I loved the mortal instruments, which is why I picked this book up, but I guess it's just time for me to leave the world of the shadowhunters.

There are no other words to describe what I'm feeling after finishing this book other than "Wow, just WOW!"
