I’m not done yet but so far this is my least favourite Robyn Carr story. There doesn’t seem to be a point to the story. I keep reading to find it. I’m half way through and now starting to skip the continual writing about “Chad” and how difficult their lives were with him. It seems that’s all this family’s life revolves around.
The continual reference to Covid is off-putting. We are still in this pandemic and reading it as if it was finished and past or getting constant reminders about it in the story is a big negative to the story.
I’ll finish the book but I won’t be giving anymore then 3 stars for this one sadly.
I finished the book and I stand with my earlier review. Unfortunately nothing changed. I was even surprised to turn the page and find it was finished. It didn't feel finished. It just all ended with an epilogue to get the final details done.

Robyn Carr has written a story about family dynamics that can be difficult on a good day, but can also be upended by a sudden event. Anna is a successful judge, enjoying her career after her three children have grown up and moved on with their own lives. Her husband dies unexpectedly on a rafting trip. Questions begin to percolate - why did he need to go on this rafting trip when he had no experience? Who was the pregnant woman at his memorial service?
This story is a nice mix of unknown secrets, mysterious findings, finding closure, and moving forward in new paths.

Really enjoyed the book. Great story about a family after the father/husband dies. I thought Robyn Carr did a great job showing everyone's point of view, helping the family through the loss of their loved one and the changes that followed. Recommend.

He had one when their son was just a baby and it affected their relationship for years afterwards. When the truth about the family dynamic is revealed, Anna and their three children will all deal with this differently.

I loved this latest Robyn Carr story. It’s not one of the steamy ones, it’s not too sweet but it’s filled with real feelings and families that are messy and complicated and where things don’t always go according to plan. A super read!

I mean….. in all actuality this story was slightly ridiculous BUT what I needed was a warm-cozy-blanket type of story on audio and I got exactly what I needed. I just released all ties to reality and let myself listen and sink into the family drama. Robyn Carr is just that kind of writer and I always know what I’m going to get!
