was going to give this 4 stars because of reasons that I'm still not able to process well but I could never do that to gideon

this was sooo good and so so confusing, I haven't enjoyed a fantasy book like this in quite sometime to be honest. but it was so messy at the beginning, that if Gideon hadn't been as charming I might've dropped it. first two acts were so messy, so many characters that never get a proper introduction and you don't know who she's talking about half of the time because they refer to necromancers and cavaliers differently everytime, this only gets better once there are less interactions. also, never an explanation on how each house works so I'm still confused about how the Fourth and Fifth house were related. it's a shame!!! because it's really interesting but this kind of leaves you as a mere spectator and it takes sometime to actually get into the story.
but anyways, apart from this it was great. I hate the ending 😂😂😂 but there's nothing I can do about that, I completely understand the reasons and I hate it
not sure if I'll read the other books yet because I seriously hate the ending and my heart hurts so much right now I'm fr cryikngngn but we'll see
