i also dont like the attempt to replicate accents, it makes the writing more weirder and clunkier to read, instead of feeling more authentic.
Graphic: Bullying, Child abuse, Confinement, Death, Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual content, Religious bigotry, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Body shaming, Toxic relationship, Car accident, and Gaslighting
Minor: Racial slurs, Racism, Pregnancy, and Fire/Fire injury
also i really dont think the attempted sexual assault by billy towards chris near the end of the novel really added anything to the story, i mean yeah they are in a toxic relationship but it doesnt really adds anything and fslt like a random plot point as it was not mentioned afterwardsmightyfrenchbookworm's review against another edition

I've read a fair amount of Stephen King books over the years, but Carrie is one that seemed to slip past me. It felt a little clunky in places, and there were a few moments that made me question whether, if I hadn't seen the film, I'd have had a good grasp of what was going on, but for a debut novel...pretty damn good!
It was an emotional read, and I loved that the story was told alongside extracts from memoirs, official records etc; they wrapped well together and added that extra something to the book.
A solid book that left me questioning who the real 'monster' was and well worth a read for King fans.
