I loved this story when it first came out but as a reread, woof. 2002 was a long time ago. It’s a cute story with a lot of attitudes that we hopefully left behind in the early aughts (diet culture, judging women for having sex, calling someone r*tarded, etc.)nemaria's review

DNF at 55%. Very juvenile for a book supposedly about adults, and too many outdated and offensive cliches for my taste. I get that this is an older book, but there's only so much I can take of "he won't buy the cow if he can get the milk for free", "you bought her ice cream so she'll definitely put out", "he can't be gay if he disrespects chenille", etc, etc. I gave it a chance because I really like epistolaries, but the format just can't make up for its many flaws.
