I included this book on my spring reading guide purely for the synopsis: Leo, a professional obituary writer, is a devoted husband and father. When his wife Emma has a health scare, he copes by working on her obituary. But as he digs into her past, he starts to unearth secrets he didn’t know she was keeping.
THE LOVE OF MY LIFE is marketed as a thriller, but a friend called it “where literary meets mystery” and I completely agree. The author uses character development to make us really care for Leo and Emma; the stakes here are emotional stakes, which is my favorite kind of “thriller.” I also really enjoyed how the author used dual POV. Emma’s past was revealed to the reader slightly before it was revealed to Leo, at a pace that kept me guessing but didn’t make me feel manipulated.
I recommend this one for Liane Moriarty fans!
Big thank you to PRH audio for my copy of this book!
