When I first read this series, I stopped at the book before this one. I don’t remember why. When I recently this year (2023) reread all of them, this one was a bit heartbreaking. The pain & torture that the main character & her husband go through is tremendous. But I still love the series. I know always positive rainbows & sunshine isn’t realistic, & this definitely reiterated that. But it also reiterated that love can conquer all in some sense. That you do not give up on your love. If you enjoy fantasy & drama, & some nasty bad guys, this series is for you. 😊

I have no words good enough to explain how amazing this book is!!! This book ripped me apart, and left me in pieces. But then made my heart soar! So much sacrifice! So much loss! And then sooo much love!!! These characters & the love they share for one another is pure magic! More magical then any of the magic in the book!!
But spoiler alert.. fuck the gods! They don’t deserve any fucking sacrifices!! They piss me the hell off & I could have done without their holier then now attitudes! lol

I love this series. I feel like the end of the plot was a bit rushed and the characters got stagnant towards the end, but that’s not the most terrible thing! It was very intense and enjoyable!

“But just remember that this fear of yours? It means you have something worth fighting for—something you care so greatly for that losing it is the worst thing you can imagine.”

I get Elide’s feelings towards Lorcan. But she is so mean, and I think she is forgetting that Lorcan didn’t know any other type of love. He didn’t grow up with loving parents. All he has ever known was toxic love, and at this point I think Elide needs to beg for forgiveness, not an apology. I just needed this to said!

To be honest, this book was so long. And while I understand why it was so long, it also felt so long to the point where it was enjoyable to read a book that long. Liked the series as a whole, but I have to take into consideration that Aelin annoyed the hell out of me the last two books. I understood most of where she came from, but she lied and deceived too much (along with the people she was allied with)!

Tropes/Themes:
* Romance
* Multiple pov’s
* The final battle

An ending that does justice to this EPIC series. I cried like 45 times and just reveled in the way we got to say goodbye to these characters and their fated journey !!
