This was genuinely the best ending to a series, the most amazing series that I have read in a long, long time. I can’t even be upset about the fact that the series has ended, I am so happy to have gone on the adventure that is the Throne of Glass books.

A more than fitting conclusion to this journey. This book made me feel the full spectrum of emotions, and held nothing back.

9/10- I am not okay after reading this. Literally this entire series is the best plot driven series I’ve ever read. I have so much to say. I literally cried every other chapter of this book. Aelin deserved sm better. I cant believe she was so horrifically tortured especially after all the shit this poor girl had gone through. I was so sad when all she wanted to do was sacrifice herself for everyone else because she thought she failed them. THE THIRTEEN. I AM NOT OK. Rip Gavriel- you deserved better than your shithead of a son (SJM kinda threw Aedion away but whatever). At least Aelin got her happy ending and everyone else did too.

I’m free.

Elide is right up there with Mal from Shadow and Bone as one of the most insufferable characters I have ever had the displeasure of reading.

This series healed and destroyed my soul in ways I couldn’t have fathomed when I first picked up Throne of Glass. I got this series on a whim in a ‘you have 5 minutes to pick a book’ book shop with my step father in which by 5 minutes all I had in my hand was a plastic wrapped set of what I thought was a trilogy about an assassin.

Boy was I wrong.

I remember finishing all 3 books in a week and a half while on a trip in Europe, unable to put it down despite the fact that I should’ve been sight seeing not book reading. I remember getting close to the end of book 3 and proclaiming to my step-mom ‘this is the last book and there’s only 50 pages left but a whole war to go through!’ She only gave me a knowing look. So as soon as I finished Heir of Fire and realized the 4th book had yet to be released (it was going to be released in 2 months) I picked up Throne of Glass and started the series over again, slower this time, and picked up Assassins Blade on the way. By the time that was done Queen of Shadows was released and I finished that book in a single day.

Then I reread it all again when Empire of Storms came out and absolutely destroyed my soul with that ending. I reread the last few chapters 3 times hoping it would change.

I actually didn’t read Tower of Dawn or touch the series when it came out. I wasn’t a fan of Chaol and wasn’t sure I could handle rereading Empire of Storms again just yet.

So now onto this book. This book made me cry and laugh and cry again. I chuckled through streams of tears. I raged at my friends for not picking up the book to read with me so we could cry together. Instead I cried to new bookstagram friends I had made. This book will be engraved in my soul forever especially the words ‘once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom’. This series will forever live in my heart. And I can’t wait to read about what happiness they experience(d) in the next book (please Queen Maas let them be happy)

Thank you Sarah J Maas, for writing a such an amazing series with characters I will always love. I will make sure they live on in the hearts of my children as well
