the way the main character’s grief was portrayed was so beautiful and meaningful to me. i related to her so much; i could not put this book down! i’m going to be thinking about it for a long time.

This was suppose to break my heart. Instead, it introduced me a woman who is painfully self-absorbed and naive, surrounded by a cast of under-developed characters I didn't care about, before abruptly ending. The ambition was there, but the execution is so bad.

Knowing this is TJR’s first novel makes me impressed by the quality of the writing and story-telling. Even in her debut, Reid is able to tell a story unlike others. She makes the mundane parts of life feel like something worth reading and the diabolical parts of life relatable. This book made me ugly cry several times. It was a good love story about found family and building a life that you’re proud of despite shitty circumstances.
