I think I need to read the book again and see if it improves on second reading. At first, I was bored and considered ditching it for another book. The characters were thinking a lot about their situations and the mental blabbling was pretty extensive. Then we meet Flynn and you learn that Flynn has A LOT OF SECRETS regarding his wife and her death. The problem is, that both Gabby and us readers are kept in the dark for most of the book. Finally, we see action, Gabby and Flynn meet and they like and they lust, we see the wonderful dialogue that the author writes for her characters and I started enjoying the book. I also loved Bismark, too cute. Then something horrible happens, an episode that has a lot of violence, more than is usual for this series and this author. It sort of fractures the book and the couple, and we see a period of one year that goes by with Gabby and Flynn apart and hurting, another departure from routine in this series. The last part of the book is pure Emily March and wonderful as her other books. I'm still a little bewildered and need to re-read and think about what happened here.

Dreamweaver Trail by Emily March
Love this series because there is so much to learn from the books.
This one is about Gabi and how she's on an island in the Caribbean to recuperate from a shooting incident that rattled her while she was a cop.
The story also follows Flynn who owns the Tradewinds on the island and a lot of property. They meet and she misunderstands and thinks he's just the pool boy.
Lots of action and careers are detailed. She is becoming a glass blower and is given the chance to go to Italy to learn the trade firsthand.
He has found the dog she was sitting for but has gone through a lot of torture and has disguised himself but headed to her hometown to heal. Others learn of his existence around town and others seek him out to help him and her get together.
Hot steamy sex scenes but misunderstandings happen and they split and you wonder if the powers that surround the area will bring them back together.
Loved learning of the step by step process of the glass blowing and his trade of designing things. Few main characters and a bunch of other relatives that live in town and so good to catch up with what's going on in their lifes. Love how she's able to see things and then can design them.
Excerpt from the next book in the series is included.
I received this book from Library Thing in exchange for my honest review.

A first read from Emily March, a first in the Eternity Springs series. Even though I jumped in to book eight I felt Ms. March did a good job of creating a stand alone read. There were some secondary characters that I was a little confused on but it did not deter from my enjoyment of the story at all. Gabi feels that she's a little lost and isn't quite sure what to do with herself. A chance to spend a few months as a dogsitter on a beautiful island is just the retreat she needs to find herself. She finds her passion and the love of Flynn. But when his past comes back to harm them their HEA is put in to jeopardy. Can they find happiness when the scares become too much? Great read and I'm excited to try more from Ms. March. It was a great combination of sexiness and mystery. Great read!

Dreamweaver Trail takes this series in a new and different direction. Before this book, the main setting has always been Eternity Springs, a small, picturesque Colorado Mountain town that contributes a great deal to the series' charm. This book changes that dynamic: about half of Dreamweaver Trail is set on an idyllic island in the Caribbean, where Gabi Romano is house- and puppy-sitting while she tries to find healing and a new direction for her life. She finds both in working with glass, apprenticing herself to a local glass artist to begin learning the craft. She also embarks on a holiday romance with the sexy "pool boy" and caretaker of the neighboring estate, a relationship that goes a long way toward healing the emotional scars left by a cheating fiance.

But Flynn isn't a pool boy or caretaker. Nor is he who he says he is -- or rather, there's another part of his identity he keeps hidden. Flynn, like Gabi, is trying to heal from a devastating betrayal -- and a lot worse. Gabi's appearance next door is an unexpected gift, bringing happiness into his life after a dark and difficult time.

I expected the truth about Flynn to come out eventually. After all, what's a romance without a few bumps in the road? But what occurs first is more terrifying and totally unexpected, and divides the book into two halves: the summery Caribbean idyll, and a darker winter in Eternity Springs. Once I got over my shock, however, I realized that Ms. March has actually done a good job of balancing the two halves of the book.

She handles the POV transitions between Gabi and Flynn equally well. Both characters are interesting and well-drawn, and the changes they undergo as a result of their relationship and of what happens to them only serve to make them more human. Gabi is likable from the start; fans of the series already know her as Mac and Lucca's sister and Mac's former deputy. One of the traumas Gabi is still dealing with at the start of the novel is the fact that she killed someone in the line of duty -- hence her search for a new career, her desire to find and pursue her passion in life. Gabi is quite taken with Flynn's movie-star good looks at first, but she's not a superficial person, and she has plenty of opportunities to show both her grit and her caring heart over the course of the novel.

When we first meet him, Flynn's emotional scars are probably even worse than Gabi's, though we don't learn his entire backstory for quite a while. Those issues aside, though, he's an attractive and sympathetic character, and not just on the surface. Hang on to that, because something happens to send him into a very dark place, emotionally. Just trust that Eternity Springs will eventually work its healing magic on both Flynn and Gabi.

I always enjoy the Eternity Springs novels, but I couldn't put this one down. Once I hit the middle, I had to know how things would work out. "Page-turner" is not a label I usually apply to a romance (much as I love them), but this one merits it. Despite (or perhaps because of) its unexpected turn, I found Dreamweaver Trail a compelling read that held my attention from start to finish.

FTC disclosure: I received a review copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are entirely my own.

I just loved, loved, loved this book.

Gabi and Flynn's lives and relationship had to endure so much, but in the end they faced all of Flynn's demons together and it made their love for each other that much stronger.

Dreamweaver Trail kept you hooked from the very beginning. You found yourself smiling and laughing with Flynn and Gabi and then you cried along with them during the hard parts; like you were right there with them.

Again, I lived Flynn and Gabi's story and I can't wait till the next book in this series.

This story seemed pretty standard to begin with and then PIRATES struck and everything changed. I swear, this series just keeps getting better and better. I'll admit this book had more sex scenes than I'd like, but the tension between the characters and their internal struggles were perfect. Excited to read Cicero's story! He should make a nice change from all the stereotypically macho heroes in Eternity Springs. 4.5*
