Very informative on the history of baseball and the legends that played the game. While I don’t agree entirely with the author’s rankings, I do find the words so well crafted for each player. Great read for any baseball enthusiast.

The longest I ever spent reading a single book, but really fun.

While the book is long, most essays go pretty quickly. The essays do get longer as you go along. Posnanski manages to keep the essays fresh by not always addressing the same topics or using the same style, though there are definitely themes that get revisited. I found Posnanski’s writing and style very enjoyable.

I have probably read more books about baseball than about any other subject, and this might be my favorite baseball book.

Each chapter is supposed to be about one specific baseball player (one of the 100 greatest to play the game), but sometimes in making a comparison to another player, Posnanski will go on quite a tangent about that second player before returning to the subject at hand. Instead of finding that frustrating, I love it, as I think it's Posnanski's passion for the sport coming through.

I borrowed this from the library, so I had to read
It in fits and starts. A combination encyclopedia/history/biography/fandom discussion, The Baseball 100 is a love letter to the game and the best players to ever do it. I read it straight through but it would be great as a reference as well. Highly recommended.
