Spice Hierarchy: Open Door

Brody ends up stranded at the Cranberry Inn while rain makes the road closed. While stuck at the Cranberry Inn, Brody meets Kacie and her twin daughters. Kacie moved back to the Cranberry Inn after her girls’ dad left them. She is reluctant to start anything with a famous hockey player especially with her daughters. Brody does everything he can to take things at Kacie’s pace. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, more curveballs are added for this couple to navigate.

Brody is such a cinnamon roll of a character. He is absolutely in love with Kacie and her girls.

I read this before 2019 when Kindle would track your reads. And after all this time I still remember the book. After reaching out to the book community, I was able to find out the title. I was so excited to do this as a reread. And bonus, the audio was free. This was my first hockey book before hockey books were a whole thing.

Both narrators did a good job with the characters’ voices. Sometimes I feel like the male narrator can struggle with the female voice, but that was not the case with this.

Kacie Jensen wasn't looking for love. She is a single mother of adorable twins, a nursing student, and a helper at her mom's Inn. Kacie didn't have time for love or men - or so she thought. Leave it too some handsome stranger to knock her off her feet.

Brody Murphy is perfect. He is handsome, kind, and wonderful with Kacie's twins. He is also really smitten with Kacie. Kacie is smitten too, but she is extremely hesitant. She has been down this road before and it ended in disaster. With her girls to think about, she really doesn't want to complicate things. She just wants to graduate and live independently with her daughters. That has been her goal since her ex abandoned them five years ago.

Brody, on the other hand, knows how to get what he wants. And what he wants is Kacie and the twinkies. I have officially joined the I♥BrodyMurphy fan club!

I love it when I find a really cute sweet read. It doesn't happen that often for me because I like chaos and angst. Beth Ehemann was able to pull me into this sugary sweet story, and I loved it. Kacie was that strong independent heroine every book needs. Brody was the nice sweet hero that more romance novels need to feature. When you add in the twinkies - just wonderful!

Heads-up: This book does have a bit of a cliffhanger. So make sure you have the second book ready before you read this one! Actually, just go ahead and get them all. You won't be disappointed! :)

Love the dude, ehh on the chick. But, shout out to the author for a pair of perfectly named twins. Sigh. Piper and Lucy. *namegasm*

Single mum, hockey romance.

An easy read but does end on a cliffhanger.

I’m all about the normal girl gets the hunky sportsman stories but I find the bitchy female side characters really annoying.

this book is a quick and nice read but it felt childishly written and some scenes were so cliche i had to take a break

Oh my goodness - what an addictive audiobook! I actually started with this author with her book EVEN THE SCORE which is technically a stand alone, but features characters from this series as well. I loved that one on audio too! Hockey, Minnesota, adorable inn on a lake, sweet single mom of twins and a FABULOUS male lead made me swoon. I'm so happy all of these books are free as audiobooks with a Kindle Unlimited subscription - it makes it so so easy to binge on them!
