Maybe not entirely 5 star worthy, but it was quite entertaining and well translated for an English audience. Very much reminds me of Agatha Christie's novels with the brilliant but odd detective working it out and the grand revelations at the end. The end had me thinking back to certain points in the novel and how they all fit. The characters were written well, especially the odd but brilliant Kindaichi. The plot was the star of a locked room mystery, and I loved the call-out of detective fiction within a detective fiction.

This is the second of this series I have read - I don't think you need to read them in order and I have enjoyed what I have read so far!

Took me a while to really get into it, to understand what's going on at all. But I did enjoy the story, it's a quick and fun read. Always love to learn about Japanese culture too, so I'm definitely reading the other books in this series.
