I absolutely loved this book. Working Stiff is one of the better non-fiction books I’ve read. I’d consider it a must read for anyone interested in forensic pathology or the death/dying process. In particular, I was fascinated by the chapter on September 11th body recovery.
This is a book that will not soon leave my memory.

Fascinating. I especially enjoyed learning about the remains identification process after 9/11.

Very interesting (and sometimes graphic) read. Definitely fulfills my love of SVU.

The content of this book was really interesting but the author was unlikeable. Felt like there was a lack of respect for some of the people she discusses especially when it comes to suicide. Also tries to be humorous which falls flat because she just isn’t funny and the subject matter isn’t something which naturally lends itself to humourous writing.

Think it would have been a five star if it had of been written more factually without the author trying to show her personality.

So many strange and everyday ways to die are discussed in this book, but are written about in a way that doesn’t make you fearful. I was surprised by the discussion of suicide and 9/11 and “enjoyed” (feels wrong to follow those words with “enjoy”…perhaps was “enlightened by?”) reading the author’s takes on those topics.
