There’s not much that I can say on Faustus. It’s a very short play that explores an interesting concept of a man selling his soul to the devil for unlimited knowledge and power.

I really liked Faustus as a character. He was interesting with all his boredom with the life he lived. It was pretty funny how he trashed all the other disciplines only to be like “yeah, magic is the one”.

I also liked Mephistopheles quite a bit and also the addition of the 7 deadly sins and the good and the evil angel. As someone who researched these topics before it was very interesting to see all of these depictions in this play.

My biggest problem with the play is that it takes place over 24 years but you can read it in 1-2 hours. I would appreciate if it were a little longer, maybe exploring Faustus’s and Mephistopheles’s characters more, maybe work on their dynamic a little. It ended too quickly and I just wanted to learn more about these characters and spend more time with them.

Overall, this was fine for what it was but I just wanted more of it. The concept was interesting and so were the characters but I just wanted to spend more time with them. For that, I’m giving it 3 stars.
