I just loved this book. I read it several years ago and then recommended it again for my book club. I liked seeing these women, thrust together because the proximity in which they live and end up growing old together. I could picture my neighbors and freinds in these women.
I do wish one character didn't have everything wrap up with her getting pregnant and life being so "perfect" if you were but otherwise I enjoyed it and would recommend it to friends

I love this! Now, I want to start a neighborhood book club, too. What a fun group of eclectic women, who all loved fiercely and ideally in their own ways.

This book follows 5 women over a couple decades through their neighborhood book club, albeit very loosely. I found some of the women's lives engrossing, while other's weren't even slightly interesting. This book has it all - literally. Affairs, childlessness, adoption, cancer, murder, abuse, religion, alcoholics, divorce, racism, homosexuality, mother/daughter issues, politics... It's too much for one book.

I'd give this one 2 1/2 stars if I could. I am on the fence - at times I really liked it, but then the next chapter would be awful.

LOVED this book! I hated to have it end, because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to all the characters.
