Wow. Can I just say wow and leave it at that? I feel like I should. This issue may not have been as emotionally heavy hitting as the last one, but it was close. There is a whole lot going on here, and Jessica only has so much time to deal with it.
This plot has been amazingly intense, so I’ve come to expect some of the emotional hits I’ve been taking while reading. I hadn’t prepared myself for the idea of certain cameos in this issue. Nor was I expecting (or prepared) for the cliffhanger of a conclusion to this issue. I desperately wish there was more to read because I need to know what happens next.
The Purple Daughter plot has been brilliant in so many ways. Yes, it sucks seeing Jessica and Luke in this situation all over again. But it’s also one of the most emotionally compelling plot arcs I’ve seen in a while, which is saying something. The series really has gotten me invested in what happens next. I have theories and hopes for how things will pan out…but I’m not naive enough to assume that I’ll accurately guess what’s going to happen.
