Good book, love the chemistry between the main characters but the self-loathing and lack of communication made me want to bang my head against a wall. Great world building I loved learning about magic and how everyone made a living.

This was such a cute fun read!! I absolutely adoreddddd the main characters and their relationship, it was goofy and fun and full of love - which, coincidentally, is what I love! The only downside for me was the whole ‘shit I’ve given her a love potion, I’ve got to avoid her’ part which like PLEASEEEEEEE I couldn’t cope, I almost ALMOST DNF’d at this point even though I was thoroughly enjoying it before then, but that still wasn’t enough to put my rating down that much! Truly autumnal vibes and I loooove!!!

This was cute, if not super naive and a little immature for an adult romance. As many of the other reviews have pointed out, miscommunication is THE trope here, despite the fact that the main plot is fake dating. Literally most of the book would not be happening if the fully adult woman would speak to the other fully adult woman. But it was cute, and witchy, and I got from it what I wanted.

This entire plot I found annoying. The lack of communication and assumption that there is no way that Rory could like Morgan was entirely frustrating and that is the majority of the book. Generally I enjoy the fake dating trope that turns into a real relationship, but the miscommunication and the MC reaction I felt was over done. Every other chapter Morgan was suffering from major anxiety and never asked for help, except from a close friend Hazel, who pushed her to communicate and tell Rory what she thought happened, but Morgan doesn't listen at all.

Ultimately I wish there was more relationship building between the characters versus the anxiety driven plot to find a "cure" for the supposed love potion.

i enjoyed the story but it really though me off how much internal dialogue took place in between actual dialogue. i felt like it really took away from the story. also if u don’t like the miscommunication trope, the entire book is based on it so it might not be for you.
