Lost in time. Quite. The timeline in this penultimate book in the Blue Blood series is all over the place and told from different points of view. We get a smidgen of Gabrielle's backstory but still don't know what happened in Florence of which the aftermath had been a significant game-changer for the New York coven. So, I guess we finally learn those details in the final book. The next plotline takes us readers on a journey through the different circles of the underworld which is conversely bizarre, confusing and interesting. And, the other major plotline concerns the search for the Gate of Promise and the gatekeeper.

Then, there are all the pairings happening. This is the ship volume where relationships are cemented or tested. At this stage, I just want to get to the silver versus blue bloods battle, really.

And... where is Bliss? I'm missing her character. I was expecting complications with the rise of the hellhounds in this book.

I'm just hoping for an epic ending in the last book. Not particularly a HEA for all the couples but a hard-fought end where sacrifices are realistic and I'm hoping that whatever happened in Florence (after being teased through a few books) will live up to expectations and not be a lame and predictable event.

My least favourite book in the series in some respects, yet a few scenes are my favourites so far. It's strange when that happens.

It’s still so sad to me that Jack and Schuyler are supposed to be the main characters but they are so tragically boring. Mimi and Kingsley’s scenes, on the other hand, moved me to tears.

Was good at the start then REALLY slowed down in the middle and went fast forward at the end. Didn’t like the pacing at all but the plot was okay a little chaotic at times. The speed finish at the end managed to get us in an interesting spot for the final book so I’m excited for that!

I loved the book! I wish I knew the big mystery of Florence. I wonder who is the evil one in this book. But i would definitely recommend reading this book.

Here is my biggest issue(one of many, but I won't go in to those) with this book: the author started out with 3 narrators who would narrate each chapter in succession. However, one of the narrators story lines finished before the other two. It made for an odd transitions; the reader is expecting Allegra to be speaking when, instead, Schuyler is speaking again. I feel like that narrative, while important (but not so important to the overall novel) could easily have been written as a novel (like Bloody Valentine was) and would make the story even more powerful.
