As with Love's other books, with just a few words and a simple illustration on each page he conveys such a rich world and builds mystery. The textural black and white art looks fantastic with the bold solid colors and tiny color highlighting details. Great type choice complements the art style. The story is both epic and distilled to essentials, shaping a grand narrative and imaginative fantasy world in a handful of pages. Pitch perfect ending. This book is the product of great care and thoughtful details, from the color and illustrations on the endpapers to the red foil on the cover.
