This book felt a little longer than it needed to be. It was a fun adventure story and I am glad I stuck with it.

Bloody Rose is a fun return to the world of Kings of the Wyld. Eames struck gold with the first book, ad easily could have played the joke up again and again in sequels. Luckily, he didn't, and went in a different direction. Bloody Rose still retains the fun characters, over-the-top world, and humor of the first book, but takes sharp dramatic turns where Kings of the Wyld usually would have remained lighthearted. Our protagonists, although not as immediately grabbing as Kings of the Wylds', grow on you over time, especially the titular character. I continue to look forward to anything Eames puts out. 8/10.

Tam, who was wise enough to know that some battles needed to be fought alone, even if it meant you lost them.

Unlike ‘Kings of the Wyld’, where I didn’t really like any of the characters, I loved everyone in ‘Bloody Rose’. In general, this book is not as lighthearted and full of jokes; it’s more emotional instead. Stakes are higher (and people might actually die this time) and plot progression depends on the characters’ actions – not just sheer dumb luck.
The biggest issue I had, however, was the pacing. I had to force myself to read more than 50 pages a day because Nicholas Eames has a tendency to begin every chapter with exposition even if the previous one ended on an intriguing note. It was a little disappointing to have to read again how something/someone looked after the main cast almost got killed/was hit with a revelation etc.
Concluding, I think the author improved quite a bit and I will probably read book 3 if it ever comes out.

It took me longer to get attached to the characters in this book than it did in book one, but by the end I was completely sold. In all other aspects, this book is just as strong as the first and it made be both laugh my ass off and cry my eyes out.
